Anti-bullying campaigner named in latest Guinness World Records - for her six-inch beard

An anti-bullying activist who once considered suicide has entered the Guinness World Records as the youngest female with a full beard.

Catwalk model Harnaam Kaur overcame years of bullying and eventually embraced her body hair after being baptised as a Sikh - a religion which forbids the cutting of body hair.

The 24-year-old, from Slough, suffers from polycystic ovary syndrome and tried to wax, bleach and shave the hair which had also started coming through on her chest and arms.

The condition made her the victim of cruel taunts at school and on the street.

She even received death threats from strangers online.

But after ditching the razor she has entered the record books with her six inch beard.

She called the honour 'absolutely humbling' and said she hope it would help empower her message that women can be and look how they want.

Speaking previously, she said: “I would never ever go back now and remove my facial hair because it’s the way God made me and I’m happy with the way I am.

“I feel more feminine, more sexy and I think I look it too.

“I’ve learned to love myself for who I am, nothing can shake me now.”

In March, she became the first female with a beard to walk the runway at London Fashion Week in March.

And last year, speaking on This Morning, she said: "It take a lot of strength to say, 'I want to kill myself'.

"A split second is all it took," she continued. "That thought process really empowered me to just carry on with life.

"I'm more spiritual now than I am religious, I live my life the way I see fit. I stand for what I am. To be labelled as a woman you can look however you want."

The Guinness World Records released its latest list of records today.
