Vladimir Putin has issued a calendar for 2017 featuring him posing in a range of situations which include him cuddling a CAT .
The Russian president has been facing criticism for his country's actions recently thanks to his standing with President Assad in Syria and launching airstrikes on the besieged city of Aleppo.
But the 64-year-old showed that even he has a soft side, as he was snapped posing with a child in ski wear, sitting thoughtfully in a tree and lighting a candle with a Russian Orthodox minister.
The self-styled strong man, who has long since bought into his own personality cult, was also pictured with war veterans and strapped into a delta plane with a fluffy crane looking on.
In another, he is standing fresh from the water in a wetsuit with what appears to be archaeological finds clutched in his fists.
He is also pictured suited up and climbing into a combine harvester with a quote which states the importance of bread, reports Steve Rosenberg on Twitter , and another shot sees him wearing a camouflage parka on horseback.
In an image of him dressed as a fighter pilot, he says that "the aim is the create the kind of army which will guarantee Russia's sovereignty, the respect of her partners and a stable peace".
But anyone thinking this is a new, considered view for the statesman considered broadly anti-West should read his closing remarks carefully.
The image of him in a suit and sunglasses looking ahead to 2018 appears beside the words: "Russia is a peace-loving and a self-sufficient country.
"We don't need other people's territories, we don't need other people's natural resources, but if we are threatened, we are prepared to use weapons to guarantee our security."
Last year, Putin brought out a similar calendar, featuring him snuggling dogs, smelling flowers and doing exercise like any normal person not in charge of a country of 144 million.
