A racoon called Stanley stole a man's smartphone.
Guy Williams, from Elizabethtown in Kentucky, US, was trying to film the animal when it snatched the device and ran off.
Guy had placed his phone in the grass on the ground in a bid to capture the creature's snuffling ways.
The racoon, which Guy had named Stanley, approached, and you can hear him sniffing in curiosity.
But then Stanley grabbed the smartphone and darted off, the camera still playing all the time.
Guy hadn't expected such an occurrence. He chased after the thief, complete with telltale bandit mask (racoon markings).
In a video posted to Twitter , which has been retweeted thousands of times, you can hear Guy desperately shouting "Stanley! Stanley! Stanley!" while stumbling through the shrubbery.
Luckily, Guy was able to retrieve his mobile after getting a friend to call it. The resulting vibrations startled the animal and it dropped the phone from its mouth.
"Had to chase it for five minutes and I had named it Stanley like minutes before this happened so that's why I was yelling that," Guy wrote on Twitter.
Guy assured viewers that Stanley was not harmed in the incident.
In a second video capturing the unruly scenes, Guy said: "I was so shook".
