How do you craft the perfect online or app dating profile ? It's the question of our time.
Being the shallow and judgmental species we are, anyone who's dipped a toe into the murky waters of online and app dating knows there's a lot riding on it.
How do you come across as the incredibly well-rounded, adventurous, sporty, sensitive, financially solvent and savvy, creative and practical, funny, kind, honest person you sort of are, sometimes, without resorting to fibs (or appearing as totally obnoxious).
'Minefield' doesn't even cover it.
Luckily, help is at hand . The CEO and founder of Bumble, Whitney Wolfe, knows her stuff and shared her wisdom with Business Insider . And, men, we're sorry to say there are some mistakes many of you are making over and over again.
Here's what NOT to include on you dating profile
1. NO mirror selfies
Most of us are guilty of a cheeky selfie every now and then, but keep them OFF your profile, says Whitney.
"Just no. They don't come over well. No one likes them."
2. NO group shots
Sure, you might be so popular people form an orderly queue to be your mate, but limit these sort of photos to one.
Make sure you have some decent individual photos, otherwise you run the risk of someone fancying your friend.
3. You and the 'other woman'
Sure, we all have a past. But posing with a woman who might be your ex, or your sister, or just a friend, or your mum is confusing.
Leave out all shots with other women. Even if your mum is literally your favourite person in the whole world. But if you do feel compelled to include them, make sure you reference this in your bio.
4. Leave the tigers out of it
In Whitney's own words, "enough of the endangered species profile photos."
