It turns out being "always stuck in second year" isn't actually that bad.

Even if it hasn't been your day, your week, your month, or even your year.

Friends . If you watch the popular television show, you might be more likely to get results . Or, on the flip side, more intelligent people are drawn to it.

Think more Ross than Joey.

We say this because DIRECTV just did a survey that explored the relationship between TV shows and intelligence.

It polled universities in the US and compared people's SAT scores to the TV shows they enjoy and watch most.

Warner Bros. Friends

And that early evening classic Friends was the favourite for people who perform best in exams. Which often set people up for life, of course.

Overall, according to the research, comedy fans are more likely to ace tests than drama lovers.

Friends was the top for SATs, but there were other shows that also indicated a correlation between good scores and time of the sofa.

The Simpsons , which was also the most popular show from respondents, joined the likes of Top Gear, Sherlock, House of Cards, Seinfeld , and South Park as choices among the more academically gifted viewers.

Fox Broadcasting Company The Simpsons

While Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, Arrested Development , and Band of Brothers were the favourites for people with lower than average SAT results.

So, you know, there's the suggestion that some television affects intelligence, memory, or ability to concentrate in exams.

Or that cleverer people prefer cartoons and humour to swords and a man dealing drugs.

Winter is coming. You better stick Friends on.
