Photographer Calvin Taylor Lee, from Sheffield, South Yorks, dared to look into the eyes of these big beasts to capture a series of dramatic portraits.

Calvin, 39, didn’t have to travel to Africa, but shot the up close and personal pictures at the Yorkshire Wildlife Park , near Doncaster, South Yorkshire.

Calvin who caught the stare of a leopard, lion and an alert lemur, said: “I wanted to take these photos to show the magnificent natural beauty of these animals.

“I like how all their expressions are different, and you’re not always able to capture their emotions.
