The hotel frozen in time

Welcome to the Swallow Hotel, where things haven't changed for six years.

Half-drunk glasses of red wine sit abandoned on tables, discarded when the four-star building suddenly closed down in 2009.

Abandoned buildings in the USA

With their crumbling walls, rotting floorboards, dusty old equipment and broken windows - these images of abandoned hospitals wouldn't look our of place in a horror film.

It's not just hospitals abandoned in the US, there are a whole host of buildings, including sports stadiums like the Pontiac Silverdome.

The Pontiac Silverdome in Detroit opened in 1975, costing nearly $56 million, and hosted some of the biggest names in music, entertainment and sport.

Deserted schools in the US

What happens to a school when the bell rings for the last time?

Photographer Johnny Joo knows. The 24-year-old urban explorer has spent a few months travelling round the rust belt area of the Eastern US photographing abandoned buildings - including a number of deserted schools.

The village of Imber

Residents of Imber, Wilts., were evacuated in December 1943 during World War II and never allowed to return.

The abandoned village, on Salisbury Plain, is now used as a training site for the Ministry of Defence .
